→ I didn't want to hide the coin away, so it swings freely inside the open Zamak alloy setting and both sides can still be seen.

→ Three stalks of wheat and the words THREE PENCE such a familiar design from Australia's pre-decimal days.

• Maybe it once lived in a Christmas pudding
→ We will never know, but threepences were traditionally tucked into Christmas puddings for good luck so I like to think there's every chance.

It's funny how something so tiny can get you wondering about such a big story.

This little threepence has been around since 1947. It could have rattled around in someone's purse, bought a little treat from the corner shop or and this is the story I'm choosing  — maybe it was tucked inside someone's Christmas pudding.

Threepences were traditionally hidden in Christmas puddings, with the lucky person who found one supposedly getting good luck for the year ahead.
